Dr. Vikas Gupta is practicing as a Associate Director, Department of Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at Medanta Bone & Joint Institute.

Previously he was Associate Professor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (A.I.I.M.S.).  He has more than 3,000 successful hand & upper extremity surgeries to his credit & has pioneered in many procedures which were introduced by him.

Dr. Gupta has been the first person to perform Total Wrist replacement (ceramic on ceramic) in India. Also first person to perform Revision wrist replacement. He has been instrumental in starting fixation of distal radius fractures by using different types of implants for first time in country. He has been part of designing team for variable angle distal radius. He started fixation of hand and wrist fractures with locking plates in India. He did pioneering work in wrist arthroscopy and arthroscopic procedures of small joints since year 2000.

He has more than 40 publications in national and international journals and more than 150 presentations in national and international conferences. He has also authored chapters in 2 Books. After completing his MBBS & MS Orthopaedics from the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences Dr.Gupta completed 6 Fellowship programs which include International hand Surgery fellowship (with Scholarship) at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, U.S.A. & hand fellowship at Freiberg, Germany.
