Dr. Ranjit S Dhaliwal - Advisor - Ophthalmology

Dr. Ranjit S Dhaliwal is a renowned exponent, and one of the pioneers of Manual SICS in North India. He graduated in 1979 and obtained his Masters in Ophthalmology from Government Medical College, Patiala, India.

He is practising Ophthalmology at Eye Infirmary, Nabha for the last 25 years and has the proud privilege of running a modern eye set-up in a predominantly rural area. He is a pioneer in using Computerisation, Micro Eye Surgery & Manual SICS to the advantage of his patients in Nabha.

He has contributed as an Author to Eight (8) Books, and has more than 70 publications, presentations, instruction courses and workshops to his credit.

Current Positions:

  • Editor of the series of voluminous “Video Atlas of Ophthalmic Surgery”, he has edited three books - “Masters’ Guide to Manual SICS”, “Instant Clinical Diagnosis in Ophthalmology – Oculoplasty & Reconstructive Surgery” & “Ready Reckoner of Modern Cataract Surgery”.
  • Web – Editor of the online “Video Atlas of Ophthalmology”, a subject – wise collection of Ophthalmic videos on a free for all portal in the service of the Ophthalmic Fraternity, at www.VideoAtlas.Co.in.
  • Founder Editor of the Video Journal and Video e’Journal of Punjab Ophthalmological Society and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of ISMSICS and Tropical Ophthalmology
  • Reviewer for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (the only One from Punjab, for the last 8 years).
  • Coordinator and Moderator of the SICS Club Yahoo group, SICS Club Group on the Facebook and Asian Ophthalmology, on the net.
  • Life Member of International Society of Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgeons, Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society, India, All India Ophthalmological Society, North Zone Ophthalmological Society, Punjab Ophthalmological Society and Indian Medical Association.
  • Managing Trustee of Eye Foundation, Nabha which organises a Weekly Free Eye Clinic for poor patients (providing free consultation, medicines and free eye surgery) since Jan. 1997. Under the aegis of Eye Foundation, Nabha, he is instrumental in arranging & operating at more than 70 Free Eye camps in and around Patiala district of Punjab.
