Dr. Balasubramanyam is a noted E learning medical educationist with a research focus on computer animations. He was awarded Sir Sriram Memorial Award by NAMS, India for outstanding work in adopting modern technology in Medical Education for the year 1997-98.

He is the President of Bangalore Chapter of the Indian Association of Medical Informatics. He is presently a domain consultant for Medical E learning for the IT industry, besides his academic role as a professor of Anatomy.

He also works as the Professor in the Dept of Anatomy at St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore. He was the Director Medical E Learning, MEdRC Edutech, Hyderebad, between Jan 2006 and Jan 2008.

His focus of research has been computers in medical education with 69 research papers, 7 chapter contributions in books, one text book and over 200 conference presentations in the field of computers in medical education.

He has delivered guest lectures on the topic “audio-visual aids in biomedical communication” and “COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN MEDICAL EDUCATION” at several centers in India. Chaired several academic sessions in various conferences and academic events all over India.

He is a member at IAMI, President of Bangalore Chapter and Computer Society of India.
