Dr. Vijay P. Zawar is a Consultant Dermatologist at Nashik, Maharashtra. Previously, he has served as an Associate Prof at the Dept. of Dermatology, Nashik medical College. He has also visited various dermatology departments on short observership including St John’s institute of dermatology- London (2004), Southwestern Medical Centre, University of Texas-USA(2008), University of California at San Francisco general hospital, USA: UCSF (2009) and University of Berlin, Germany (2009).

He has been an Associate Editor at the Journal of Medical Case Reports, London, UK. He has also been on the editorial board of Journal of Dermatological Case Reports, Poland, Europe; Indian J Dermatol; International J Trichology and World J Dermatol. He has also been a reviewer of over dozen journals which include the British Journal of Dermatology, British Medical Journal, International Journal of Medicine etc. He himself has published more than 75 articles in the international and local journals.

He has contributed the following chapters in various textbooks:

• Viral Exanthems: In the Indian textbook of pediatric dermatology, first Edition: 2009: Jaypee publishers: Chapter 6: pages 129-163.
• Pityriasis rosea: Harper’s international textbook of pediatric dermatology (In press) 2011
• Cutaneous Mastocytosis: In the book of Urticaria,edited by Dr Kiran Godse(2012)
• Paronychias: In the textbook of Nail diseases and their management, edited by Dr Sacchidanand (2013).

He is affiliated with 7 professional organizations and is also a Fellow of American Academy of Dermatologists.

He has been a recipient of multiple awards throughout his career. He has been felicitated
with:

• National Merit Scholarship for the performance at undergraduate level.
• Brihad Bhartiya Scholarship for consistent performance during postgraduate studies.
• First Rank at the DVD exam, University of Poona, May 1990. 
• Awarded Fellowship by Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists for a short training at AIIMS, New Delhi 1995 with a travel scholarship. 
• Best Paper Award for oral presentation Mumbai in state dermatologists meet 2002.
• Scholarship by European Nail Society, April 2005 
• Scholarship by American Academy of Dermatologists to attend a meet at San Antonio, TX, USA between 1-5th February 2008.
• Scholarship to attend International Congress of Dermatology Prague May 2009
• First prize for practicing dermatologists quiz at Maharashtra a state meeting, 2008&2009 
• Awarded Dr D J Patil award for the best presentation at state conference Dec 20009
• Winner of the Archives of Dermatology quiz, March 2010, Oct 2010, Nov 2010.
• Dr B M Ambady oration at Dermacon 2011 in Feb held at Gurgaon.

He is an alumnus of B J Medical College and Sassoon Gen Hospital, Pune, India from
where he did his MBBS, MD, DNB and DVD.
